Our Favorite Seafood Restaurants in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach
Beautiful beaches and great activities may be our top claim to fame on the Alabama Gulf Coast, but our fresh seafood isn’t far behind. Visitors and foodies flock to our shores every year to dine at local restaurants and sample delicious seafood straight from the Gulf of Mexico. Whether you’re a fan of deep-fried shrimp, fresh raw oysters, or authentic seafood gumbo, you’ve got to try one of these top seafood restaurants on your next visit to our area.
Doc’s Seafood Shack & Oyster Bar
26029 Canal Road, Orange Beach, AL 36561
There’s a reason Fox News named Doc’s one of the top 10 seafood shacks in America. Since 1983, visitors and locals alike have flocked to Doc’s to enjoy their fresh local seafood and no-frills atmosphere. Enjoy a cup of their renowned seafood gumbo to start before digging into a plate of Doc’s world-famous fried shrimp. You can even bring your own catch and have the chef prepare it for you!
Cosmo’s Restaurant & Bar
25753 Canal Road, Orange Beach, AL 36561
From their eclectic cuisine to the funky village atmosphere, there’s nothing chain about Cosmo’s. While you can certainly find fried seafood options, they’re best known for upscale dishes like Pecan-Crusted Redfish and Shrimp Seafood Pasta. We recommend the Banana Leaf Wrapped Sea Bass - The Year of Alabama Food called it one of the “100 foods you have to eat before you die.”
The Steamer & Baked Oyster Bar
124 W. 1st Ave., Gulf Shores, AL 36542
If fried food isn’t your style, you’ll love the seafood selection at The Steamer and Baked Oyster Bar. There’s nothing fried on the menu, but there is a full assortment of raw, steamed, grilled and baked seafood from right here on the Gulf Coast. You’ve got to try one of their specialty oysters like the Baked Mexican or Baked Cajun Crawfish (or go all-out and get a sample tray of 3.) Wash it down with their famous frozen Amaretto Orange Blossom cocktail!
Original Oyster House
701 Gulf Shores Pkwy, Gulf Shores, AL 36542
One of the longest-running restaurants in South Alabama, the Original Oyster House is a true Gulf Coast staple. Their fresh seafood dishes use only quality raw ingredients and deliver a true coastal taste in every bite. They offer one of the largest seafood menus in the area, serving everything from fried alligator bites and authentic southern gumbo to blackened mahi topped with crawfish tails, tasso and Conecuh County cream sauce. With an environment that’s both cool and casual, Original Oyster House will be a favorite for families and foodies alike.
